Teens going through developmental milestones such as problems with self esteem, communication, anxiety, depression, assertiveness, physiological/hormonal changes, academic struggles, family and/or relationship challenges.
At Milestone Family Counseling, individual therapy sessions last fifty minutes. The client and the therapist will work together to establish goals and a treatment plan in the initial session. Sessions typically involve open discussion about the client’s experiences, thoughts, and emotions. Our clinicians use various therapy modalities to help clients understand and address their issues in a safe and confidential space without judgement and bias.
Individual therapy can help improve overall mental health and well-being. You will gain enhanced coping mechanisms, increased self-awareness and understanding, improved relationships, and reduced stress and anxiety.
Clinicians at Milestone Family Counseling offer free 15-minute phone consults to potential clients to assess appropriateness of fit for general needs/goals and the services our clinicians are able to offer.
This varies by the individual. Our goal is to aid individuals towards gaining autonomy and agency in their lives, and this varies by the person and their willingness to address challenges.
We strive to build relationships with both the client and the parents/guardians. However, the client is always the teen. We will not serve as reporters to parents/guardians unless the child is being harmed and/or harming themselves. We will strive to aid parents/guardians towards the establishment of better relationships with their teens and help facilitate better communication. Our clinicians will address parental/guardian concerns in therapy and will always be available to consult as needed.
After the first session with your teen we will meet after 4 sessions to check in to go over themes in therapy and/or progress. After the initial consultation, you can expect a consultation every 4-6 weeks.
No but you are welcome to ask how things are going at any time. We are always willing to discuss themes addressed in therapy, but will not divulge details unless the child is in harm and/or is harming themselves.
Your milestone is waiting. Let’s reach it together!
