Therapist

Bianca Ortiz, LPC-Associate: Bilingual Anxiety, Depression & Trauma Therapist

Under the supervision of Dr. Angela Peña, PhD, NCC, LPC-S

I help adults and couples navigate depression, anxiety, identity-related concerns, and trauma, with a passion for supporting Spanish-speaking clients and the LGBTQ+ community.

Building Yourself Up, Not Being "Fixed"

Life can bring stress, uncertainty, and challenges that leave many of us feeling stuck or unsure of where to turn. Reaching out for counseling is the first step that honors your worth and your desire to feel more fulfilled as a person. My own experiences navigating mental health challenges have reinforced my belief that healing is not about being "fixed," but about acceptance and building yourself up. As a therapist, I offer a supportive, nonjudgmental space that explores your unique experiences. I believe that every person has the capacity for growth and healing when provided with the right tools for success.

Who I Work With: I enjoy working with adults and couples navigating depression, anxiety, identity-related concerns, and trauma. I have a deep passion working with Spanish speaking individuals who may struggle navigating culture conflicts within their family or community systems.

My Therapeutic Approach

I primarily draw from Adlerian therapy and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), both of which emphasize the importance of connection, purpose, emotional understanding, and personal growth. I also integrate interventions from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness techniques when they best fit a client's goals. I tailor my therapeutic approach to each client's unique goals, recognizing that meaningful change begins with a strong therapeutic relationship. I believe you are the expert on your own life, and my role is to help you gain insight and find coping skills that feel right for you.

Areas of Focus

  • Hispanic/Latinx communities: Using a multicultural responsive lens I help members of the Hispanic and Latinx community find strategies to balance cultural expectations and personal growth.
  • ADHD: As someone who personally understands the challenges of ADHD, I enjoy helping clients better understand how their brains work, collaborating on ways to improve productivity and life functioning.
  • LGBTQ+ community: As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I strive to foster an affirming environment where clients of all identities feel safe and supported throughout their counseling journey.
  • Couples/Marital issues: Using the EFT and Gottman interventions, I help partners strengthen their connection by exploring intense emotions, repairing old wounds, and creating healthy patterns of communication.
  • Anxiety: I help clients understand the underlying causes of anxiety while developing practical coping skills to better manage symptoms.

A Bit About Me

Outside of the therapy room, I enjoy spending time with my fiance and my (dog) son Moose, taking long walks, and exploring local record shops and new coffee places. And if all of this doesn't scream "the therapist starter kit," I also own many cardigans.

In My Clients' Words: Clients often mention my ability to be authentic, present, and intentional. They appreciate that our sessions create space for everything from lighthearted moments and casual catch-ups to deeper, more meaningful emotional processing.
